As CES 2025 approaches, we are once again busy preparing to analyse every post and metric on behalf of CTA, the organisers of the world’s biggest technology show.
We’ve spent 11 years capturing and analyzing millions of online conversations from CES events, tracking sentiment shifts, and monitoring emerging discussions across social platforms. This has helped us accurately map out the trends that will dominate the show floor at this month’s expo.
The data tells a fascinating story about how CES is constantly evolving along with innovation and our relationship with it. Each year, we see trends that start as emerging technologies and then move from the periphery to centre stage, reflecting broader shifts in both industry focus and consumer interest. For 2025, we're seeing several clear trends emerging in the social data.
This is the year that gaming takes centre at CES
The announcement of Nvidia's RTX 50 Series launch during the CES 2025 keynote will no doubt be a key talking point at the show. With their 'Neural Rendering Capabilities' promising to revolutionise both AI and graphics processing, this isn't just another incremental GPU update – it's a glimpse into the future of gaming and AI computing.
Alongside its Keynote and booth, Nvidia is doubling down on this gaming focus by hosting GeForce LAN 50, their first full-scale LAN party in over a decade. This 50-hour gaming event marks a significant shift in how major tech companies are approaching CES, bringing gaming culture directly into the spotlight.
This gaming-first trend is echoed across the show floor from other key Exhibitors. Samsung is likely to unveil the Odyssey OLED G6, a monitor specifically designed for esports with an unprecedented 500Hz refresh rate. LG are also set to announce an OLED Bendable Gaming Monitor, featuring a 45-inch display that transforms from flat to curved. Meanwhile, Lenovo and Valve are expected to announce the Legion Go S, a handheld gaming device.
For this year, at least, CES gaming hardware is no longer a side attraction, and we expect it to lead online conversations at this year’s show.
AI Gets Practical: From Buzzword to Genuinely Useful
One of the key trends we observed in the conversations at CES 2024 was that almost every product launch had 'AI' shoehorned in somehow. Our social intelligence data showed consumer sentiment rapidly became frustrated with the results. So for 2025 expect the focus of CES 2025 to shift dramatically from simply announcing AI features to demonstrating their practical benefits. Major manufacturers are set to showcase new displays and TVs where AI genuinely enhances the viewing experience, with features like automated picture optimisation and intelligent sound adjustment that adapt to both content and environment.
In the smart home sector, we're seeing a move away from gimmicky voice commands toward more sophisticated, learning systems. New product launches are expected to highlight how AI quietly works in the background, learning usage patterns and automatically adjusting device settings for better efficiency and user experience.
Health Tech: AI That Actually Makes a Difference
Nowhere is the practical application of AI more evident than in health technology. The announcements expected at CES 2025 show a significant evolution from basic fitness tracking to comprehensive health monitoring.
Next-generation wearables will feature advanced AI algorithms capable of continuous, real-time monitoring of multiple vital signs simultaneously, moving beyond simple heart rate tracking to more sophisticated health metrics. Expect demonstrations of predictive health features that can identify potential health issues before they become serious, analysing patterns in user data to detect subtle changes that might indicate emerging health concerns. Several manufacturers are set to unveil personalised health platforms that use AI to deliver customised wellness recommendations based on an individual's unique health data, activity patterns, and lifestyle factors.
The key difference this year is the focus on results rather than technology. Instead of trumpeting AI capabilities, companies are highlighting how these features translate into better health outcomes and more informed healthcare decisions.
Sustainability finally building some meaningful momentum
The third major trend our social data highlights for CES 2025 is a significant shift toward genuine environmental innovation. While 'green' initiatives have been part of CES for years, our analysis has shown an increasing conversation trend in consumer demand for greener products and manufacturers seem to be starting to respond.
Beyond Green Marketing: Real Environmental Impact
The evolution is clear in the data: conversations around sustainability at CES have shifted from general environmental concerns to specific discussions about energy efficiency, repairability, and circular economy initiatives. Here are some of the key product announcements that exemplify this trend:
- ➔AI driving energy efficient appliances
Samsung is promoting their new AI Hybrid Cooling Refrigerators as a breakthrough in energy efficiency, combining high-efficiency compressors with Peltier modules. While the real-world performance remains to be tested, the technology shows promise for reducing energy consumption. Hisense will likely debut with their Smart Tower portable air conditioner, featuring vertical crossflow fans and wide-angle rotation. They claim significant improvements in cooling efficiency and power usage. - ➔Circular Manufacturing Takes Shape
In the home appliance sector, LG claims to be expanding recycled plastics use across 19 product categories with a target of 600,000 tonnes by 2030. If achieved, this would represent one of the most ambitious recycling programs in consumer electronics. They're also promising 95% waste recycling rates at production sites by 2030. Both Google and Samsung are expected to announce circular tech strategies at CES 2025. These initiatives appear more comprehensive than previous sustainability efforts. What's particularly noteworthy about these launches is the shift from vague environmental claims to specific, measurable commitments. Whether these companies can deliver on their ambitious promises will be a key story to follow throughout 2025. This transformation from eco-friendly marketing to concrete sustainability targets suggests we're entering a new era where environmental consideration is becoming fundamental to product design, rather than an afterthought.
The Proof Is in the Data
Our decade of analysing CES social data for CTA has given us unique insight into how the show evolves and what drives conversation each year. But will gaming truly take centre stage? Will AI finally move beyond buzzwords to show real utility? And will sustainability commitments translate into measurable action?
